Camping From A To Z

imageApril has arrived and with it brings the start of the A to Z challenge. This challenge means I will publish a blog each day, except Sundays, for the month of April. This will be challenging because I have not camped since the fall and I have nothing booked for this year. Not to fear: this challenge, and the sunshine of April, will revitalize me. It is the point that I really start to think of summer and dream of getting away for weekends.  This challenge will help me refocus  and remind me how much I enjoy getting out in our trailer to enjoy some relaxation time with my family and friends.

This year, booking seems to be tougher than ever. With the low Canadian dollar, Canadians are staying local and Americans are coming for the great deals. The opening weekend of BC’s Provincial Park site brought triple the normal traffic causing the site to crash on 3 different occasions.

You might think this would discourage me from camping but it won’t. We may have to move to private campgrounds, or camp in the less popular areas, but we will find campgrounds! We will gather around campfires and we will create memories that can only be done away from the comforts of home.

A2Z-BADGE [2016]So tonight I will book our first trip, this weekend I will pull out the awning just to feel like I am camping and this week I will start to clean out the trailer. Yes, it is April and for campers in Canada that is the beginning of something great. I hope you enjoy my A to Z, assuming I am able to keep up with it.

  1. We only use private campgrounds and just completed all our reservations for this summer/fall and only had 1 campground that was full and 1 that didn’t have a site big enough. We are going to try a Provincial Campground in Manitoba, but reservations don’t open until April 4th.

Looking forward to your A to Z posts.

Hoping you enjoyed the pre-summer weather for the past week.

  2. I LOVE reading that you’re cleaning out your camper already! We’ve been talking about it, but since there’s snow on the ground, it seems a bit premature here in Michigan. I keep telling myself to be patient, but since the camping season is so short, it’s tough! Good luck with those reservations! I had to make one set back in October for a trip in August–crazy! Of course, I ended up getting the dates messed up, but we’re going no matter what now! I just hope the weather will cooperate! –Amy @ https://amymorrisjones.wordpress.com/
