Teapot Hill Hike: A Unique Adventure

We completed the Teapot Hill hike while camping at nearby Cultus Lake. Our group ranged from hikers in their early 20’s up to their late 50’s.

This is a 5 km out and back hike which is more about the journey then the views at the end. The top does offer a a view of Cultus Lake and second viewpoint of the Columbia Valley but they are obstructed and not the reason this hike is so popular.

Start of the trail

All trails‘ rates this as Moderately Challenging, but we all found it very doable and can be completed in under 2 hours.

The elevation is about 250 meters and the trails is well marked. The only downside is that it is busy. Parking can be an issue so you should arrive early to secure a spot. The trail is dog friendly but keep its’ busyness in mind for your pup.

Our view on a cloudy day

It is a steady climb up to a view point with a few steep parts. The trail does offer some rest stops along the way making it good for all ages and paces.

The appeal of this hike is in the name, there are several Teapots hidden throughout the hike. Some easier to spot than other but it keeps hikers distracted as you complete the climb.

Hikers often bring teapots to hide and display which makes each year a bit different. Due to the volume of teapots left by visitors, BC Parks does clean up some of them each year.

If you are in the area this unique hike is worth the effort. It is a great way to spend the morning and makes for some fun photos and memories.
