Camp That Site: Enjoy BC with the right site the first time

We camp several times a season without power. We enjoying sitting out at night playing games and visiting so lighting is important. With the improvement in solar and battery lights we have several lighting options in our trailer.

On our recent trip one of our friends brought out their hanging solar powered lanterns. These were powder coated stainless steel outdoor lanterns that provided an elegant ambience.

The lanterns come in a 4 pack, each one a different color. Options for different shapes and patterns are also available. They measure approximately 11 cm by 13 cm and have a hanging hook on the top for convenience. The lights automatically turn on and off at dusk and dawn and although they are not bright enough to play games by, they certainly added to the campground vibe.

For games we use the BLS LED rechargeable battery light strip with a magnet. We originally bought this light for our pantry cabinet because it had a motion sensor option and provided great light in a small dark closet.

Since that time we also used it outdoors for light when we are playing games in the evening. (Keep in mind this product is for indoor use so we are careful to bring it in at the end of the game). We have a decorative metal bar from Ikea we put over the picnic table (see below for this product). It allows us to attach the magnetic light to shine down on the table and provide the perfect light for games.

The light charges with a USB-C cable and keeps it charge for a full night of games. The package also includes a mounting bracket that can be attached with provided 3M tape or screws. We used the bracket and screws in the pantry but the magnet is what makes this light so versatile. We place it on the microwave hood fan when we are camping without power to provided added light in the trailer kitchen area without draining our batteries.

I mention the decorative rod. We bought Helgeo metal rod from IKEA this year. It is a powder coated metal rod the attached to our picnic table with an adjustable vice at each end. The bar is made for both indoor and outdoor use and allows for the magnet bar to attach firmly and provides the perfect light for an evening of games.

It also allows for hanging lanterns or decorations to be added for theme nights or campsite atmosphere. It has been a fun addition to our rv and comes apart for easy storage
