We have yet to tarp our new RV
We are now into our second winter storing our RV and each year we debate whether we should buy an RV cover or not. When we had our tent trailer we did the unthinkable and covered it with a blue camping tarp. I can hear the collective gasp. What might surprise you is we did this for 10 years and not once did our trailer leak. Adding to our inexperience, not once did we (get ready to gasp) reseal our seams or treat our roof. I know shocking!!! Continue reading
We have only been lucky enough to book into this campground once. It is likely the most popular provincial campground there is and if you want a site you will have to get up before 8:00, 3 months before the date you want to camp and start trying to book it, even then you are lucky if you get in. We were able to get the site because I logged on about the same time as someone was cancelling their reservation and I scooped it up. Otherwise, good luck! Continue reading
While doing some research for my blog I came across this neat product.
It comes out of the Neatherlands and is marketed as a hangout couch for camping, festivals or days at the beach. They claim it is easy to inflate and reduces down to a small storage bag. Sounds like a great addition for any outdoor enthusiast. They claim to ship anywhere in the world so would love to hear from those who have tried it.
RVs are engineered to be as light as possible so they’re easier to tow. The flip side of that benefit is that the interior material is typically pretty flimsy. Case in point: one of our overhead cabinet doors came right off in Blair’s hand!
We did a quick search and didn’t find a good posting on how to fix an RV door, so Blair took a stab himself.
We thought we should blog our approach in case it helps anyone, or in case someone else can comment on how to do this job more effectively. Continue reading
Many people refuse to set New Years resolutions but for me it is one of my favorite things to do. I often set around 20. Some are simple, ones that I know I can achieve, and then there are those that make the list each year. Being more patient, stressing less and reading more all seem to be far more difficult to achieve than one might think.
As I enter the second year of my camping blog I felt it would be appropriate to set some Camping Resolutions. I have narrowed it down to 5 that could be adapted or adopted by any camper. Continue reading
I finally had a chance to use the set of Skyhooks that were sent to me in early August. I first introduced this product back in January when I found it online while doing research for my blog. It has since been my most searched post reaching over 7,000 viewers to date. With those kind of number I knew I really needed to try this product out and write a follow up review. Continue reading
One year of blogging and this article has been by far my most viewed post. As I celebrate the end of the year I thought it would be worth reposting my top blogs. Thanks for all your support.
We have only had our travel trailer for one camping season but have quickly realized that gray water is one of the biggest challenges, especially when dry camping. We didn’t experience this problem in our tent trailer because we didn’t have hot water nor a holding tank. Now that we have both, I like the idea of showering at my site but with 2 teenagers and no hookups the gray water will fill up quickly. The solution: an outdoor shower stall at the back of the trailer. The problem: finding a way to make it private. I headed out to research this and here are my findings. Continue reading
Be careful who you send out shopping on their own.
12 months of blogging and it has been an interesting ride. With the help of my husband we have created an electronic scrapbook of all our family camping trips. We have shared our reviews, tips and funny stories all while researching new products and campgrounds. We have connected with so many other campers and learned that camping outside of Canada must be on our bucket list.
Christmas 2008 was spent enjoying the snow at our trailer. Still one of the most memorable holidays we have had.
There are some really creative campers out there.
