I have been researching tips for cooking and baking in an RV oven. I no longer use my oven, mainly because my one and only experience was a disaster. We were having a pot luck dinner and I volunteered to make roasted potatoes for 30. (I know, crazy idea, right!) I peeled and chopped, peeled and chopped, and then peeled and chopped some more. Once all the chopping was done I coated them with olive oil, seasoned them and separated them onto 3 trays. Two went in my oven and one on the BBQ.

Chuckle Monday – Really, We Are Packing This?
This is a bit of an exaggeration but sometimes I think my husband feels like this. It’s just so hard to pack light!
Chuckle Monday – The Importance Of The Right Shoes!
Between my new Fitbit and this blog my feet can relate to this. I really need to investigate some new footwear.

Why Tarp Your RV? Valuable Tips To Make The Right Decision.

We have yet to tarp our new RV
We are now into our second winter storing our RV and each year we debate whether we should buy an RV cover or not. When we had our tent trailer we did the unthinkable and covered it with a blue camping tarp. I can hear the collective gasp. What might surprise you is we did this for 10 years and not once did our trailer leak. Adding to our inexperience, not once did we (get ready to gasp) reseal our seams or treat our roof. I know shocking!!! Continue reading
Haynes Point – Why This Campground Needs To Be On Your List!
Haynes Point Provincial Park – Osoyoos, BC
We have only been lucky enough to book into this campground once. It is likely the most popular provincial campground there is and if you want a site you will have to get up before 8:00, 3 months before the date you want to camp and start trying to book it, even then you are lucky if you get in. We were able to get the site because I logged on about the same time as someone was cancelling their reservation and I scooped it up. Otherwise, good luck!
We were there at the end of August and stayed in site 10. It was not a lake front site but we took what we could get. Osoyoos is always very hot, but the good thing is there is often a wind coming off the lake. It’s a hot wind but at least it’ a wind. The downfall with the wind, you can’t really tarp for shade and sometimes it is even risky to leave your awnings up . That being said, if you don’t like the hot sun, you likely are not booked in Osoyoos. One of the most unique things about the campground were the quails. They were everywhere and they very tame. The kids loved to watch them scurry around the site.
Haynes point has water on 3 sides but if you aren’t lucky enough to get one of the lake front site then you have to walk to the campground beach or drive into the great city beach. It is not a long drive into the city beach (Gyro Park) and there is also a great tourist strip with mini golf, ice cream stores and lots of other tourist attractions. There is not shortage of things to do in Osoyoos and being a desert climate there is always great weather to enjoy.

Here is my advise for this campground.
- Recommended Sites: It has been 10 years since we camped at Haynes point so may notes are limited and likely very old. I will write what notes I have and update them the next time we are in the area. I noted double sites 22/23 as well as 27/28 as good. Best on their location they have the best chance as some shade and you can position your camping vehicle to increase the shade. They also had reasonable access to the lake. (that may have changed over the years.) For single sites I would try to get 20 or 25. They had good privacy, access to the lake and you could position your vehicles to increase your shade.
- Campground Highlights:
- Dry hot weather is very dependable
- Large warm lake that is great for swimming or boating
- Flush toilets
- Plenty to do in the town for all ages
- Beach at the day use area
- Campground Lowlights:
- No showers
- No hook ups
- Limited shade options
- Very hard to make reservations for
- Many of the lake front sites are a bit marshy
- Things to do
- Wineries
- Swimming
- Water skiing
- Parasailing
- Banana boating
- Paddle boarding
- Jet skiing
- Golf

Cool Camping Couch That Stores In A bag! Really?
While doing some research for my blog I came across this neat product.
It comes out of the Neatherlands and is marketed as a hangout couch for camping, festivals or days at the beach. They claim it is easy to inflate and reduces down to a small storage bag. Sounds like a great addition for any outdoor enthusiast. They claim to ship anywhere in the world so would love to hear from those who have tried it.
Fixing A RV Cabinet
RVs are engineered to be as light as possible so they’re easier to tow. The flip side of that benefit is that the interior material is typically pretty flimsy. Case in point: one of our overhead cabinet doors came right off in Blair’s hand!
We did a quick search and didn’t find a good posting on how to fix an RV door, so Blair took a stab himself.
We thought we should blog our approach in case it helps anyone, or in case someone else can comment on how to do this job more effectively. Continue reading

5 New Years Resolutions Every Camper Can Easily Achieve!
Many people refuse to set New Years resolutions but for me it is one of my favorite things to do. I often set around 20. Some are simple, ones that I know I can achieve, and then there are those that make the list each year. Being more patient, stressing less and reading more all seem to be far more difficult to achieve than one might think.
As I enter the second year of my camping blog I felt it would be appropriate to set some Camping Resolutions. I have narrowed it down to 5 that could be adapted or adopted by any camper. Continue reading
